1. Welcome
~~~~~~~~~
February is here, my son begins his new school year after the long (or not
long enough) summer school holidays. Many people return to work after their annual summer vacation. The board shorts, bare feet and sun tan lotion are swapped for the business suits, shoes and brief cases. The holiday is soon just a memory, however the sense of relaxation can be recaptured by simply shutting one's eyes and going back to the beach in one's mind. These moments can be a mini break during a fast paced day and can  assist one to refocus to the task at hand.
This issue has a beach theme as it is a place that I go to often to reflect, learn, have conversations and have fun.
I also have a virtual space via group telephone calls where I go to reflect, learn and have conversations with people from around the world. In January I lead a number of TeleLearning calls with people from Australia, Canada and the USA. It never ceases to amaze me that people who have never met each other and cannot see each other can still connect on many different levels.
The reason it works, I believe, is that the people are open to learn from each other and in turn learn more about themselves.
Create and visit your own space(s) to reflect, learn and have conversations.
2. Reflection
~~~~~~~~~
Take time to notice how amazing your world truly is.

3. Conversations
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time appears to be shorter and as the amount of information escalates there is more to converse about, hence many conversations are best kept concise and to the point.
*Start with the setting the scene or context of the conversation you want to have.
*Listen and understand the listener's context and speak to it.
*Get to the point about what you want from the listener and ask for it
*Balance talking with listening
*Leave the conversation with a clear outcome for all involved
Concise conversations work best when a relationship has been built between the people having the conversation.
Each morning I get to practice concise conversations with 20 other people as we body surf together and wait for the next wave of the day.
If the waves are good then time is short and we barely have time to catch our breath before we catch the next wave.
Most days there are a few minutes between the waves and the range of conversation is very broad from stock market tips, health issues, sporting results and a few jokes.
It has taken time and longer conversations to get to know the people and set the scene so that we can have concise conversations whilst waiting for the next wave of the day.
4. Learning
~~~~~~~~
I spend a lot of time at the local surf beaches either body surfing, walking or watching my son surf on his surf board. It is a great time for reflection and learning.  I enjoy the changes in the beach that occur each day from the effect of wind, waves and tide and people and animals walking on it. I admire the sense of seeing the beach for the first time as it changes every day.

One day I realised that like the beach I change a little every day as a result of my experiences, environment and the people I meet. From that day I chose to recognise, enjoy and celebrate the changes in me that occur each and every day knowing that tomorrow I will be different again.

Recognise and enjoy your daily changes.

5. Learning2gether.com schedule.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For the last 2 years I have been exploring learning with others via a telephone call. It is similar to a teleconference in that the technology is the same but the focus of the call is to learn with from each other about a topic that everyone is interested in.
An environment of trust and respect is created so that learning can occur for everyone on the call.  I have worked with people from various parts of the world on the one call. A wonderful sense of being part of a global community develops on the calls.
TeleLearning sessions scheduled for February include:
NB. All sessions are free apart from the cost of a telephone call to the USA at each persons expense.
